a life built around boats.

I bought my first boat when I was 12-years old—a 1969 Chrysler Courier 229—with every penny I’d saved up to that point in my life. After my dad hauled her home, I immediately started work—removing hardware, pulling up rotten cockpit sole, and eventually, learning how to remove and rebuild the plywood stringers. Over the following years, I fell in love with the work and found truth in the old saying that “there is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as messing around in boats.”

Since then I’ve worked as a furniture maker, cabinetmaker and residential carpenter—but I have always come back to boats. After inheriting my great uncle’s tool chest of chisels, hand planes and caulking irons, I decided to turn that passion into a profession. In the years since I’ve learned both traditional boat building skills and modern yacht construction techniques, and continue to learn as the industry evolves.

Perhaps the most important lesson I’ve learned so far: no two boats—or owners—are the same, and having someone who understands the marine world inside and out is invaluable in bringing your vision to life. Get in touch today to discuss your project.
